Chelsea Kamine, Groomer |
 |
Chelsea has been an animal lover for as long as she can
remember. Even before she was in kindergarten, her parents
were cautioning her to leave the feral cats alone but
Chelsea made friends with many of those cats anyway.
At the age of ten Chelsea was "grooming" the family's very
patient American Cocker Spaniel, trying to make her look
like the pretty pictures in the books. At eleven years of
age, Chelsea attended her first dog show and fell in love
with the sport. She begged mom for a dog that she could
show. Chelsea and her mom, Denise, attended local dog shows
searching for a great breed to show. They soon found and
purchased a ten week old red Doberman male puppy.
Chelsea had the privilege of training Bailey to be a show
dog. When Bailey was six months old the team of Chelsea
and Bailey was created and they began their show careers,
learning the ropes of the dog show world. Bailey is an
awesome teacher and friend. Chelsea presented Bailey in the
Confirmation breed ring and in Junior Showmanship, and was
awarded Best Junior Handler at the Doberman Pinscher
National Specialty Show the following year. Chelsea
acquired an English Cocker Spaniel puppy, a breed that
requires grooming, and had a great time training her new
puppy and learning to groom her. Over the years, Chelsea
has had many mentors help to learn more about several
breeds, different grooming skills needed for each of those
breeds, and has been grooming show dogs for over seven
years. Chelsea loves to groom companion dogs, as well.
Chelsea's Junior Handling career finished having achieved
recognition in the top ten for three different breeds,
winning the Doberman Pinscher National Specialty as Best
Junior Handler twice. She also qualified to show at The
Westminster Kennel Club, the most prestigious dog show in
the United States, and the newer Eukanuba Dog Show in Junior
Showmanship. Chelsea continues to train and handle a number
of breeds in the show ring since she has aged out of
Juniors Handling Program. Chelsea enjoys working with dogs
and helping new junior handlers to learn how to show their
dogs. Chelsea continues to learn from and about these
wonderful creatures.
